Madares Pension & Studios - Loutro
Location: Loutro, situated at the south coast of Crete and far out of reach from the "usual", well known and popular tourist areas is one of the special places on Crete where rush and traffic do not exist. Its location, at a bay with crystal clear water and the enormous White Mountain range pictured as a background right behind the village, makes it possible to be reached only by boat or by foot. This picturesque little village offers the typical authentic Cretan atmosphere with its narrow pedestrian streets, the white-painted small houses and guestrooms, the little taverns all viewing the Libyan Sea and serving delicious fresh fish plates, the Greek "kafeneions", tiny shops and the small, nice pebble beach of Loutro. Foreign friends as well as locals visit this "little paradise" regularly during the summer months. Walking opportunities are plenty to nice little beaches around the area or the mountain village of Anopolis. A ferryboat departing from Chora Sfakion towards the village of Agia Roumelli (the finish line of the famous hike through the Samaria Gorge), makes a stop over at Loutro (approx. 25 min. from Chora Sfakion to Loutro) and enables people to come to or leave this village (a few times per day, depending on the season and the weather circumstances). The Madares Pension & Studios are located just behind the restaurants along the seashore; in fact the owner and his family run the tavern in front of the accommodation and prepare local specialties. The distance from Madares to the beach is 70m.
Rooms: The total of 15 rooms and 7 studios are divided over several buildings. The accommodation is staggered on different levels on the slope. The interior is comfortable and friendly. All the units are provided with A/C and a balcony with a great view at the turquoise-blue sea or the mountains.
The studios consist of one spacious living/bedroom with a double- or two single beds, a couch which can easily be turned into two single beds for the night, a kitchenette and a bathroom with shower/WC.
The rooms have a refrigerator and a bathroom with shower/WC. It is possible to add an extra bed in the room.
Service: Cleaning 3x p. week. Change of linen and towels 2x p. week.
Facilities: Breakfast (included only for the rooms) is served at the tavern of the owner, perfectly located directly at the seafront.
Remarks: Reservations for the rooms on BB basis. Reservations for the studios on RR basis. HB possible with supplement.
